  and northeast California.

.DISCUSSION...

Summer is in full swing! The Reno Intl Airport hit 101 degrees
yesterday; our first 100+ degree day of the year. For those that
enjoy the heat, great news! We`re going to be even warmer today.
Locations across W NV, including the Reno-Carson-Minden area, will
see highs in the triple digits today and tomorrow while our
friends in Sierra communities will be in the low to mid 90s.
Unfortunately, with relatively high overnight lows, heat recovery
isn`t ideal. Limit time outdoors during peak heating hours
(10a-5p) and make sure to stay hydrated.

As fires continue to rage in N CA and S OR, smoke infiltration
will continue to impact much of the area, bringing hazy skies. Due
to strong surface heating this weekend, though, this brings an
increase in instability. This will allow for a 5-10% chance of
isolated showers and thunderstorms, primarily along the Sierra
each afternoon. As a low pressure system drops down from Canada by
the middle of next week, shower chances increase Tuesday through
Thursday.

That low pressure will also help bring afternoon high
temperatures down to near-normal. We cool down starting Tuesday
but this will be relatively short-lived as another high pressure
system starts to build towards next weekend.

.AVIATION...

VFR conditions prevail through the weekend along with light winds
and typical afternoon W-SW wind gusts up to 20 kts. Expect a 5-10%
chance of isolated thunderstorms each day between 21-03Z,
primarily for Sierra terminals. Primary storm concerns will be
brief outflow gusts and localized turbulence.

The hot temperatures may produce density altitude concerns,
especially for KTRK, KTVL, and KMMH. Slantwise visibility
reductions remain possible with haze from wildfires in northern
California and southern Oregon.
