.PREVIOUS DISCUSSION... /issued 134 PM PDT Sat Apr 12 2025/
KEY MESSAGES...
* Dry and mild weather prevails this weekend with brisk winds
tonight into Sunday morning.
* A warming trend early next week will produce near record warmth
and increased streamflows due to snowmelt.
* There is a slight chance of showers on Tuesday and Wednesday,
otherwise dry weather is favored next week.
DISCUSSION...
A weak cold front drops down tonight, increasing winds overnight
and providing a short-lived cool down tomorrow with afternoon high
temperatures returning to near normal. We`ll see an uptick in
NW-N winds, esp across the Basin and Range, tonight, otherwise
light afternoon winds will prevail through at least Tuesday.
A brief warming trend starts Monday, bringing high temperatures
to near record levels. The warmest day of the week will be
Tuesday; the current record for Reno is 83. As of now, we have a
33% chance of at least tying that record.
Some cut-off lows off the coast of Southern California mid-week
will allow for increased chances of showers and thunderstorms,
primarily near/south of the Tahoe Basin. This will also introduce
a larger spread in afternoon high temperatures, indicating mixed
confidence. Stay tuned as we get closer for more details. Until
then, enjoy this weekend`s pleasant conditions!

AVIATION...
VFR conditions for all terminals this weekend with W/NW gusts
around 20-25 kts this afternoon. A cold front will bring increased
N/NE breezes tonight into Sunday morning, especially for KLOL/KNFL/KHTH.
Increased Sierra ridge winds may yield turbulence from the Sierra
crest and westward Sunday morning before winds subside in the
afternoon.
